Emiliana Torrini – Chill Artist to Check Out

So Emiliana Torrini has been around for a while, but not many have heard of her. Every time I show someone her music, their eyes light up. She’s an incredible singer from Iceland, following in the steps of Bjork. She’s compared to her a lot, but is a much-chiller, less bi-polar type of artist. She recently (well.. 2009) got famous for her track ‘Jungle Drum‘ .. but it’s pretty atypical of the rest of her music.

I first discovered her stuff from her work with Thievery Corporation, the famous trip-hop / world / dub group from my hometown of Washington, [continued … ]

Update: See below for updated tool info

Hi everyone!

It’s been a little while since my last post as I’ve been very busy setting up my new small SEO company, called Kahena Digital Marketing. We’re just getting off the ground and are extremely busy. We’ve found a great office space, are getting our procedures and best practices in order, and are overall just always ‘ON’.

In the process of doing some keyword research today, I needed to figure out which keywords were triggering the local algorithm. In my on-going quest to make every task easier via Google Doc scraping (using [continued … ]

Sleep Cycle – App that Tracks Your Sleeping Patterns via iPhone Accelerometer

I seem to get into different types of iPhone apps in binges. Right now, it’s sleep apps. My favorite has to be Sleep Cycle. It’s main purpose is to wake you up naturally while you’re already waking up. Instead of having a traditional alarm clock jolting you out of bed smack dab in the middle of a REM dream state, this app will detect your movements via the iphone accelerometer and wake you up when you already are starting to move (in less of a deep sleep).

You give the program a given time frame of let’s say 30 minutes [continued … ]

How To Easily Download Different High Quality Formats of a Youtube Video: Mp4, FLV, and MP3 Audio

This post is inspired by my friend Lymore Hauptman, a health coach (gladtobeofhealth.com) who has been a catalyst for many recent nutritional and lifestyle changes in my life.

Lymore recently asked if I could help her download a video from Youtube for one of her presentations. I randomly discovered an amazingly easy and powerful way to not only just download Youtube videos, but also download multiple file formats and qualities instantaneously and for free. The streamlined process is all possible because of an incredible little piece of opensource software called JDownloader.

JDownloader is written in Java

Jerusalem Coworking, Jelly, and Shared Office Space

In the past five or so years, the coworking concept has spread across the globe. Coworking refers to when groups of freelancers or very small startups get together to both work and share their ideas. Often times this model serves as a great alternative to working from home or spending tons of money on coffee sitting by yourself at a cafe.

Coworking can be broken down into at least two main types: a physical office space which is shared by members and guests, and a periodic local meetup at a predetermined location (called a ‘Jelly!’). [continued … ]

First Post – Welcome to the New Site!

Hi everyone :)

It’s been a whirlwind since leaving my full time position at Matan Media, and I’ve quickly set up this site to post my various SEO, Tech, or Music ramblings as well as host some of my freelance products and services. Ive quickly hacked a very basic WordPress theme to just get something up – but rest assured that I’ll have some of my more aesthetic friends helping me beyond the basic CSS/HTML hacking to have a ‘prettier’ design soon. So bear with me.

I’ll get the new pages up this week and [continued … ]
